Day 2 - Shimla to Sarahan - Travelling Distance: 165 km
Leaving the hillside town of Shimla, we ride on our Enfields through the conifer forests and lush green valleys. We aim to arrive in Sarahan mid-afternoon, enabling a tour of the stunning Bhimakali temple. This is a sacred temple of the Hindus and is an architectural marvel. It is believed to be at least 800 years old.
Day 3 - Sarahan to Kalpa - Travelling Distance: 80 km
Beautiful days riding today, along roads with sheer cliffs on one side and deep ravines on the other. Passing through tiny villages, and the emerald green of the Sangla meadows, we then stay the evening at Kalpa.
Day 4 - Kalpa to Nako - 100 km
Leaving Kalpa early, we ride through a mix of apple orchards and rocky off-road stretches. We then come to one of our favourite places, Nako, located high up near the Tibetan border. This is a stunningly beautiful and remote part of the world and reminds you why you love moto touring so much. Its ancient streets and tiny Himalayan village atmosphere is a perfect end to the day. It's fire pit and glamping tonight.
Day 5 - Nako to Kaza - 160 km
We head out from Nako, and the road delivers another smorgasbord of hairpins. We stop at Tabo monastery for lunch, the oldest continuously operating Buddhist group in India and the Himalayas, and take in just how ancient these villages are. We push on to Kaza where we have a rest day tomorrow.
Day 6 - Kaza - Rest Day
Today you wander around the village, or come out on the Royal Enfields to the highest village in the world, coupled with the highest post office in the world. (Big hint, take option B). Beautiful ride on a small trail, post your postcards back home and take some iconic photos.
Day 7 - Kaza to Chandratal Lake - 115 km
Today is an awesome day of riding. Challenging with everything in it - sand, rock,, water crossings - you name it, you ride it. Our guides and mechanics will help you along the way if you need them. Sweeping scenery, riding through gorges, along cliffs, up to the peaks, and back down to the river plains. It's all here. Great to get in and relax with big grins from the days touring.
Day 8 - Chandratal Lake to Jispa - 138 km
We start to head out of the Spiti Valley today, riding through the desert landscape to Chatral. Your moto tour then takes you onto the legendary Manali-Leh Highway, known as one of the best stretches of motorcycle touring in the world. We pass through Keylong and spend the night at the quaint little town of Jispa, nestled up in the mist-covered mountains.
Day 9 - Jispa to Leh - 334 km
And today is a big big day. If you thought you had ridden it all, the last day has plenty of jaw-dropping moments left. Ride the highest passes in the world, stretches of hairpins that go on forever, blast across the More Plains, hugged on all sides by the Himalayas. We leave early and come into Leh late, but for such an adventurous trip, it is fantastic to finish with an epic ride.
